Listed below are the minimum server requirements. Requirements for CPU, RAM, and disk space are for product installation and basic operations only. The exact configuration required to support satisfactory performance varies depending on the number of users and documents, document size, and other factors. Response varies depending on server and end-user workstation speed, memory, network, and server workload. For additional configuration information based on the number of users and documents, refer to Additional Server Configurations.

Virtual Server
An average use installation requires for each virtual server; a minimum of 4 GB virtual memory and 40 GB of free disk space for the operating system and DocuShare software.
If a database and stored documents are on the same virtual server; a minimum of 8 GB virtual memory and 200 GB of free disk space.
A high use installation requires for each virtual server; a 64 bit OS, 16 GB virtual memory, and 2 TB of free disk space.

DocuShare does run in many operating environments beyond our reference platforms. However, since we do not test beyond our references, we cannot claim DocuShare will work on other platforms.

This section provides example server configurations based on the number of Client Access Licenses (CALs) and guests, and documents. Note that the actual system requirements will vary depending on factors other than the number of users and documents; type and volume of use as well as usage patterns affect the system requirements.
Windows or Linux platforms
Note: There are limits on physical memory for Windows 2003 and 2008 servers. Refer to the Microsoft Developer Network for details.
