Create or Edit an Air Assist Profile
Both the operator and administrator can create, edit, or delete profiles. If your job experiences misfeeds or multifeeds with a certain stock, you can create a custom Air Assist Profile for that stock and assign it during printing.
Note:Before creating an Air Assist Profile and assigning the profile to a stock, the administrator can attempt to address misfeeds by adjusting Tray Air Assist settings from the Advanced Stock Setup window. To apply an Air Assist Profile, refer to the Advanced Stock Setup window in the Manage Stock Library.
To create a new or edit an existing Air Assist profile, use the following procedure.
Tip:
If sheets are sticking together, increase the values a step or two at a time until the problem is resolved.
1. On the main window, select Profiles.
2. Click the Air Assist tab.
3. To create a profile, click the New (+) icon. Or, select a profile from the list, then to modify an existing profile, click the Edit icon.
Either the New Profile Setup or the Edit Air Assist Setup window appears.
4. In the Profile Name field, enter a new name or modify the existing name.
5. In the Number of Pre-Blows field, select the number of times the shutter in front of the lead and end blowers of the feed tray open and close – 1 time, 2 times, 4 times, or 8 times.
Tip:
Pre-blows are short bursts of air that occur immediately after the tray closes, not during printing, to help separate the sheets. This setting applies to all internal and external paper trays, except for the Multi-Sheet Inserter.
6. Under Air Volume:
a. Set the Front and Rear Blower to Off, Low, Med, or High.
b. Set the Lead Blower to Off, Low, Med, or High.
c. Adjust the End Blower value to Off, Low, Med, or High, only if the paper is over 297.2 mm (11.7 in.) in the feed direction.
7. Under Shutter Action:
a. Set the Lead Shutter to Off, Shift Amount-Small, or Shift Amount-Large.
b. Adjust the End Shutter value to Off, Shift Amount-Small, or Shift Amount-Large, only if the paper is over 297.2 mm (11.7 in.) in the feed direction.
8. To evaluate how the settings work with the profile, load a tray with the paper that requires the profile.
9. Select Test Print.
The Test Print window appears.
10. To save and close the setup window, select Print Test.
11. To exit Profiles and return to the main window, select Close.
