Managing Inserter Productivity
You can choose how the Production Press manages productivity when using the Inserter Tray, also called tray T1. The Inserter Productivity setting determines how the Production Press behaves in the following conditions:
When blank or pre-printed sheets from the Inserter Tray are inserted into the printed output
When the Inserter Tray runs out of stock
The Inserter Productivity setting offers two options:
Priority on Sequence Accuracy: For each set, before printing, the Production Press checks to ensure that paper is loaded in the Inserter Tray. After confirming that paper is loaded in the Inserter Tray, the Production Press starts printing the job. Immediately prior to the insertion of a sheet from the Inserter Tray, the Production Press pauses printing. After the sheet is inserted, the Production Press resumes printing. This setting results in increased waiting time and thus, decreased productivity. However, printed output is not purged when the paper loaded in the Inserter Tray runs out.
Priority on Productivity: The Production Press starts printing regardless of the status of the Inserter Tray. As long as paper is loaded in the Inserter Tray, printing does not pause when a sheet is inserted. However, when the paper in the Inserter Tray runs out, printing pauses and the printed output in the paper path between the print engine and the Inserter is purged to the first output tray beyond the Inserter. After the Inserter Tray is reloaded with paper, printing resumes, starting with reprinting the sheets that were purged. This setting helps you to maintain productivity.
Note:
To avoid paper jams, do not reuse the output that is purged from the paper path.
Priority on Productivity is the default setting for Inserter Productivity.
