Problem: Multifeeds, Misfeeds, or Paper Jams in Trays A1-1 — A2-2
Multifeeds, misfeeds, or paper jams are occurring in Trays A1–1 — A1–2.
Suggested Solutions
From the Manage Stock Library on the Control Center, perform the following solutions.
1. Change the Tray Air Assist setting.
• To adjust the air volume generated by the tray blowers that help in separating sheets when feeding media, use this feature. When using light-weight or heavy-weight media, which stick together easily, to better separate sheets and prevent jams or multifeeds, select a stronger air flow setting.

• The settings available for this feature are:
▪ System Default: Based on the media and environmental conditions, the air volume is set to the appropriate volume.
Note:For the remaining settings, click System Default. A complete list of settings for this feature appear.
▪ Multifeed Support Table: If you use media that triggers multifeeds, select this option. This setting increases the air volume to a level higher than the System Default.
▪ Mis-Feed Support Table: If you use media that triggers jams, select this option. This setting increases the air volume to a level higher than the Multifeed Support Table.
▪ Forced Off: When working with special media that jams as a result of the air flow that Tray Air Assist introduces, select this option. This setting turns off Tray Air Assist.
▪ Choose from Tray Air Assist Profile Library. Select from the created Air Assist Profiles.
2. Change the Enable Tray Heater setting.
• To Enable, which is checked, or Disable, which is not checked, the tray heater, use this feature. To help prevent jams and multifeeds by loosening contact between sheets, the tray heater warms the air that is blown into the tray by Tray Air Assist.
• The tray heater partially can dry paper and affect print quality. If dry paper affects the print quality, Disable the tray heater.
Note:Disabling the tray heater can result in an increase of multifeeds.

• To Disable (unchecked) the tray heater:
a. Remove any media loaded in the tray.
b. In Tray Air Assist, select any option except Forced Off.
c. Disable (unchecked) the tray heater and register the media.
The printer performs a forced exhaust action for approximately one minute. During the forced exhaust action, do not change any settings or open a tray.
Important:
A forced exhaust with paper loaded in tray can lead to image quality problems.
d. After the forced exhaust is complete, load media in tray.
3. Change the Multifeed Detection setting.
• To Enable (checked) or Disable (unchecked) multifeed notifications, use this feature. This feature does not make any other adjustments.
• Access the Multifeed Detection feature from > > > .
• The settings available for the Multifeed Detection option include:
▪ Enabled (checked): Multifeed notifications are switched On.
▪ Disabled (unchecked): Multifeed notifications are switched Off.
Note:To prevent the system from reporting faults due to multifeeds, temporarily disable notifications. This action allows you to continue the workflow until you resolve the cause of the problem. Disabling this feature has no impact on the occurrence rate of actual multifeeds, and if disabled, multifed sheets can cause jams elsewhere in the system or result in more blank sheets in the final output.
