Note:The Z-fold Half-Sheet Adjustment feature is available only with the C/Z Folder, which is available with the Production Ready Finisher, Production Ready Booklet Maker Finisher, or Production Ready Finisher Plus attached to your Production Press.
The operator and the administrator can create, edit, or delete profiles. To create a new or edit an existing Z-fold Half-Sheet adjustment profile, use the following procedure. To modify both the Z-fold and half-sheet positions of your output, you first create a profile with the fold adjustments.
1. Make sure that the appropriate stock is loaded in the Production Press and program the tray. Load the stock Short Edge Feed (SEF) and select a tray that contains SEF stock.
2. Select Profiles.
The Profiles window appears.
3. Select the Fold Adjustment tab.
The Fold Adjustment window appears.
4. To create a profile, click the New icon. To edit an existing profile, select the appropriate profile from the list, then click the Edit icon.
The Profile Properties window appears.
5. In the Profile Name field, type a new name or edit the existing name.
It is recommended that you use a name that indicates the fold type.
6. From the Fold Type menu, select the Z-fold Half Sheet type.
7. Select the appropriate stock settings, such as Size and Weight.
Verify that the Short Feed Edge option is selected.
8. Notice the Fold Position adjustment area that shows the two dimensions, A and B. These points are the dimensions to measure and modify.
9. Select Test Print.
The Fold Adjustment Test Print window appears.
10. Select the tray that contains the stock you are using.
11. Select the print quantity.
12. Select Print Test.
A message appears indicating that the test print is being created, followed by a message that the print is complete.
13. Obtain the Test Print from the output area of the Production Press and hold it in the position shown on the Fold Position adjustment icon in the window. The large black arrow faces up and points left.
14. Determine if the Left, top icon, and Right, bottom icon, sides of the fold are equal, or if one of the sides is longer. If one side is longer, measure the amount of overlap, which is the distance between the edges. Measure the sample output and record both Z-fold, half-sheet positions on a sheet of paper. Record the difference in millimeters.
15. Using the plus and minus icons, enter the A length and the B length of the fold position.
16. Select Test Print.
17. Evaluate the results of the new settings. To make further adjustments to the fold position, repeat steps 10–17.
18. When all adjustments are complete, select OK. The new or edited fold adjustment profile appears in the Fold Adjustment window.
19. To exit Profiles and return to the main window, select Close.
