Printing Takes Too Long for First Print or First Copy Out
Copy or Print Jobs With a Combination of Color and Black-and-White Output
Problem
For jobs that have areas with a combination of color and black and white, the first copy or print output takes longer than the expected 10 seconds.
Factors that affect the first copy or print output time
The following scenarios affect the extended wait time for the first copy or print output:
• Copy or print jobs that are 1–2 pages only, as opposed to copy or print jobs that are more than 2 pages
• The number of users in the print queue
• Copy or print jobs that use the same type of media, as opposed to copy or print jobs that contain mixed media types
• Copy or print jobs that use a mixture of color and black and white
If you implement the following solution outside of these scenarios, color stability issues can occur.
Solution
To decrease the wait time for first copy or print out, perform the following:
1. Increase the Power Saver time to 30 minutes.
If the wait time remains too long, continue to the next step.
2. Log in to the press user interface as administrator.
a. Press the Machine Status button.
b. Select > > .
c. Change the following NVM values:
▪ For 752–175, enter 0.
The default value is 1.
▪ For 740–437, enter 3.
The default value is 0.
3. For Copy mode, at the press user interface, set the output color to Auto Detect. The default setting is Auto Detect.
Color Copy or Color Print Jobs
Problem
For copy or print jobs that are color only, the first copy or print output takes longer than the expected 10 seconds.
Color Job Workflows and First Copy or Print Output Time Factors
The following scenarios affect the extended wait-time for the first color copy or print output:
• Copy or print jobs that are 1–2 pages only as opposed to copy or print jobs that are more than 2 pages
• The number of users in the print queue
• Color copy or print jobs that use the same type of media as opposed to copy or print jobs that contain mixed media types
• Copy or print jobs that use color only
